DNA replication

DNA replication is one of the few central genetic processes that require a connection between proteins and DNA. Thanks to such photographs, the Transmission Scanning Electron Microscope (STEM) was able to show many details of DNA replication in the SV40.12 tumor virus. The subunits of the protein known as T-antigen accumulate in two hexameter around the DNA, precisely at the place of origin of the replication.

Detecting chromosome

Chromosomes are normally only visible under an optical microscope when the cell undergoes the metaphase of cell division (where all chromosomes are aligned in the center of the cell in their condensed form). Before this happens, each chromosome is copied only once (phase S), and the copy is attached to the original by means of a centromer, resulting in an X-shaped structure (photo on the right) if the centromer is located in the center of the chromosome, or a two-armed structure if the centromer is located near one of the extremities.

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on the left and right side of the body in vertebrates. They are located on the back of the abdominal cavity in the retroperitoneal space. In adults they are about 11 centimeters long. They get blood from the paired renal arteries; blood emissions from the paired renal arteries. Each kidney is connected to a ureter, a tube that transports the excreted urine to the bladder.
